Spin List! #40 — Updated
Alas, the Count remains alone: this was not the time for him, what with moving back to Arkansas and everything, so I made only small (though very much enjoyed!) progress. For now, I have decided to take a leaf out of Monsieur de Villefort's fireplace and abandoned Dantes 'til it suits my better pleasure.
Alone, in a darkened room, -
The Count of Monte Cristo, Alexandre Dumas
#4 for #40! 4 times 10 is 40, and 10 times 2 is 20, which is how many books are on a Spin List - that all seems quite fair!
Huzzah for Dumas!
* * * *
The first spin of 2025! First things first: I finished the book for the previous spin on time, but I have procrastinated most impressively on writing my review. The little bit of progress I have made still languishes with many other such measly efforts in the sordid chamber of Drafts. Poor fellows! They are sorely ill-used! – a state which I hope to remedy as soon as such action may be considered reasonably effectible!
I made my list a month or so ago, to have on hand, but I've just packed up a great quantity of my books, preceding a move back to my native Arkansas (so exciting!). I saved several books intended for spinning to be packed in my last box, just in case there was a spin, but some are in unknown positions within barracks of cardboard. It shall be seen how we go!
Happy 40th Spin!

Of the four I've read from your list, I would pick The Woman in White. I hope whatever you get, it's something you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I would be absolutely delighted it if I got that one, – I've wanted to read it for ages – but any of them would be stellar.
DeleteI hope you get one you'll really love!
Lots of good stuff on your list! I hope you get The Warden since it's one of my all time favourite books. But whatever you do get, I hope it's one you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I've never read any Trollope, so that would be wonderful.
DeleteGood luck with your spin! – I love your list!
I hope you are able to access the spin book! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Happily, 'The Count' was one I saved for my last box, which hasn't been taped up yet, so that was definitely a lot easier than expected. There would have been slight panic if I'd spun Kidnapped or Greyfriars Bobby, and I've refused to even think about Malice Aforethought!
DeleteHappy reading!
