UPDATED Spin List #43 – the first of the year!

CLASSICS CLUB SPIN #43

WORDSWORTH AND WATERCOLORS SPIN LIST #7

UPDATE:
The Fates have been persuaded towards . . .

#2, Persuasion, by Jane Austen!

In the immortal words of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart: Well, here we go again. . . .

I have selected 20 books from my Classics Club List; a number between 1 and 20 will be announced by The Classics Club on Sunday, February 8th; the corresponding volume on my list will (probably not, with my track record,) be read by March 29th.

My particular favorites this time round are #5, #12, and #16, but I'll be excited for any of them! That is, I suppose, a byproduct of having selected them myself.

Happy spinning to all!

  1. You have an interesting list and I hope you enjoy whichever one the spin brings. Now I'm off to look up the Bram Stoker book!

    1. Thank you! It's indeed an odd list, but I'm pleased with how it came together.
The Lair of the White Worm is probably popularly known less for its substance and more for being quite a wild ride, as I'm sure you've discovered! Of Stoker's work, I've read Dracula and a short story called The Secret of the Growing Gold, both of which I like very much. I trust in him thus far!
      Good luck with your spin!

  2. Ohhh Persuasion, my favourite Austen, oh and North & South - what a fabulous read. And The Count of Monte Christo is HUGE but worth the effort - unforgetable in fact.
    Good luck!

    1. I look forward to all three of those so much! Full confession, head hanging, my copy of The Count of Monte Cristo is heavily abridged. I'm usually very picky about Editorial Meddling but at the time I found it I felt out of my depth with such a monster as the original, even if I could find an unabridged edition! With all the love I've seen for it through CC, though, I doubt I'll only read it the once and I really want to read the full work.
      Thank you! You, too!

  3. Glad to see North and South on your list! Such a good read, and then you can watch the BBC mini-series as well! It's a bit different but still great!
